As technology advances, so does the evolution of work culture. From traditional office spaces to trendy startup offices and co-working spaces, each transition has proven to be more productive and effective than its predecessor. The latest trend in the modern workplace is remote working.
Remote working refers to a working style in which professionals work from locations other than their traditional office spaces. This can include working from home, a café, or a co-working space, often referred to as flexible workspaces.
But why are an increasing number of people choosing to work remotely?
In recent years, the number of remote workers and “digital nomads” has surged, and remote working has surprisingly led to improved work productivity. The concept of traditional office spaces is rapidly becoming a thing of the past, as remote working is poised to become the new norm.
Research conducted by Harvard Business School suggests that a work-from-anywhere policy can result in increased productivity and reduced hiring costs for companies. Such policies also have the potential to increase employees’ earning power while strengthening local economies in the process.
Similarly, a study by Buffer, in partnership with Doist, Hubstaff, Remote-How, RemoteYear, Trello, Workfrom, and We Work Remotely, revealed that 99% of respondents expressed a desire to work remotely at least some of the time for the remainder of their careers.
Remote working offers the flexibility to travel, explore new places, and work simultaneously. It is undoubtedly the future of work.
